Ullapool District Junior Pipe Band lead the chieftain, former chieftains and guests on the games field.

Pictured above on the right is this year’s chieftain, Neil Gudgeon, accompanied by Alex Dickson, the 2008 chieftain. Mr Gudgeon said he was very surprised, but also very proud and honoured to be asked to be chieftain “although I did have misgivings about the date being Friday the 13th!” He said that being a volunteer on the lifeboat was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of his thirty-eight or so years of living in Assynt. He also paid tribute to the hard work and time that goes into organising and running the games.
