Carol-Anne starting playing the bagpipes under the tutelage of Pipe Major Charles O'Brien of Strathnaver, before setting out for Glasgow where she went on to graduate in traditional Scottish music from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama

The Strathy-born piping instructor — she teaches in Wester Ross schools — is also a composer of pipe music

Carol-Anne has studied the Gaelic language at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig

She has toured extensively with Gaelic bands, such as Dòchas and Anam, and has frequently appeared on TV

Carol-Anne has recorded two CDs with Dòchas

With a very special family event coming up in August 2008, Carol-Anne will be stepping aside from Ùrachadh. In her place, Taigh na Gàidhlig Mhealanais is delighted to welcome Alasdair MacMhaoirn
